I am posting these in no specific order; random. I am guessing at what year these have been taken. Back then I was younger and thought I would remember; the joke is on me...
This was the first time and last time I caught a walleye. Thank God for pictures, because I was telling everyone I had never caught a walleye and a picture is worth what?...Well, it was a pleasant surprise and now I have proof that I actually caught one of these babies!!
My guess is 1988. "Little Wolf" in Minnesota, up close by "Cass Lake". Our first vacation together in Minnesota, but, not our last!!!! I went with my husband and our three little princess'; Jenny(6), Amber(4) and Randi (2).
My story is a long one, so I will give you bits and pieces throughout my blogs. But I started fishing when I was 5 years old. My parents and another couple they were friends with; Carl and Margaret. They all went and shared a cabin together. The ole fellow who owned the place grabbed a cane pole and rigged it with the tinest bobber ever made....with a hook. And may I guess a worm on the hook. He took my mom and I out on his pier and basically taught me how to get the job done...And lo and behold; I caught my first fish!!! I remember I was crying and screaming, I was so proud , excited and happy to catch that tiny little fish!!! Hey, this guy was already using the program we now have on "take a kid fishing!" That was back in 1965 !!!!
Another story that goes with the trip was when Margaret decided to play a joke on my parents. See, there was a bear who would come around, going through the trash barrels and making a total mess as he was looking for food. One night; Margaret, decided to take one of Carl's boots, crawl on the floor and thump the boot up against the door, hoping my parents would think it was the bear...I remember looking over to see her laying on her back, thumping the boot up against the door. What a hoot!!! They eventually found out it was her. The next night the real bear came and actully got into our garbage...They were saying, "Knock it off, Margaret!" She kept saying, "It's not me, honest to God!" But they didn't believe her until the next day when they went to leave the cabin...
Funny, but I even remember Carl saying grace and me saying; "Oh, what a nut?!" They never let me forget it!!!! Out of the five of us, I am the only one still here. Gotta keep the memories going?!
